Britain’s healthcare providers are gearing up to start giving the first doses of the Pfizer Vaccine, less than a week after the United Kingdom became the first Western nation to approve a Covid -19 vaccine.

The UK is taking delivery of up to 4 Million doses of the vaccine which in itself bring a challenge as the doses would need to be kept refrigerated at minus 70 degrees which offers up to 95% protection. Each refrigerated dose must be used within 5 days. There will also need be two doses administered 3 weeks apart for this process to work.

The first tranche of doses will be given to health care workers and the over 80’s with the Armed forces being involved in the planning and logistics of the vaccination program.
